About Us

Community Involvement

Community involvement activities are an important part of the school's program. Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community service as part of the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The aim is to encourage students to develop an awareness of the role they can play in supporting their communities. Students are encouraged to complete the 40 hours of community involvement as early as possible ideally before the end of grade 10. Our local partnerships provide opportunities for students to earn their community service hours as well as gaining valuable experiences and networking..

High School co-curricular Programs

A strong Co-curricular program exposes students to a wide variety of experiences. At Durham Academy in addition to field trips and guest speakers we also offer an extensive array of co-curricular activities. Special events to expect are: Exhibits, Lunch Time Intramurals, Community Service, Science Fair, Public Speaking and Applied Science Work Shops.
