In 2017 Durham Academy Secondary School welcomed its first high school class with students from Canada and around the globe due to parent requests.

While the Academy is new, its foundation started over 40 years ago with Great Beginnings Montessori School and Durham Elementary Private School. Our philosophy of education ensures that each student will be recognized as an individual with unique talents and abilities.

Durham Academy follows the Ontario Curriculum at the highest Academic level focussing on STEM. We are a fully accredited ministry approved school. Our staff are carefully chosen and are Ontario Certified Teachers.

Durham Academy has carefully selected home stay families who have their own children registered in our school. In this supportive atmosphere your child will receive nutritious meals, have their own bedroom, and transportation to and from school. The home stay parent can also act, if needed, as your child’s guardian (as required by Canadian immigration regulations). Your child may also stay with their home stay family during the holidays and school breaks. The monthly fee for Homestay is $1,300 per month.

Health Insurance: Students/ families must arrange their own.

Upon receipt a completed International Student Admissions Package:

• Your application will be reviewed by the International Admissions Counselor and then referred to the Principal;
• You will be contacted to arrange for an interview via Skype. If possible, both parents (or guardian) should be available for the interview, along with the applicant;
• Admissions decisions will be made within 10 days of your interview. You will receive your decision via an emailed Durham Academy Letter of Admission from the International Admissions Counselor or your Educational Consultant.
• To accept your offer of admission an Administrative Fee of $300 and a deposit of $5000 must be returned within three weeks of the date on the Letter of Admission. The $5000 deposit will be applied towards the first year of tuition, or refunded if a study permit is not approved. A tuition payment plan is available.
• Upon receipt of the deposit, you will be provided with a Student Admission Form that will list all of the information, including housing arrangements, that is required for the study permit application.
• You may use the Student Admission Form, along with the Letter of Admission, to apply for your study permit with the closest Canadian consulate.

    • Administration Fee (non-refundable) required upon accepting offer of admission: $300
    • Deposit required upon accepting the offer of admission: $5000. Applies towards first year of tuition and is refundable if a study permit is not approved.

International Student Tuition:

• • Kindergarden to Grade 8: $12,000 per school year
  • Grade 9: $14,000 per school year
  • Grades 10 to 12: $16,000 per school year
  • Program Registration (DASS): $300
  • Books/Material Fees (DASS:): $900 per year (does not apply to camp)
  • Uniform Fee (All Grades): TBD (includes standard and gym uniform)
  • Homestays (optional): $1,800 CAD per month
  • Airport Pickup and Drop-off (Optional): $150.00 (one way)

• For regular tuition payments we recommend that you open a Canadian bank account.
• Payment Plan: The yearly tuition fee is paid by 10 post-dated cheques, each in the amount of the yearly tuition fee and divided by 10. Cheques are dated the 1st of each month from September 2024 to June 2025. (The first year tuition is reduced by the deposit.)
• The Material Fee is paid by 3 post-dated cheques, in the amount of $300 dated August 15th, 2024, December 15th, 2024 and March 15th, 2025. Material fee for half-year enrollment is $500.
