STEM
Durham Academy Secondary School offers STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) curriculum that empowers students to develop their critical thinking, analysis and problem solving skills – skills that are essential in biochemistry, engineering and computer programming area.
By integrating STEM curriculum into day to day learning, students experience and apply Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to make connections between school, community, and work preparing them to successfully compete in an increasing innovative world market. It changes the way students involve their classroom activities. They become more engaged when immersed in the process of building, revising, testing and building a prototype.
To promote our unique STEM education, Durham Academy Secondary School and Intelligent Education Inc. jointly sponsors free training sessions in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Free courses will be offered in Richmond Hill locations and various public libraries. The first wave of workshops will focus on 3D design and printing technology. Subsequently, robotics and programming will be introduced gradually.
We are excited to announce our first annual 3D design competition will be held at Durham Academy Secondary School at the end of June for youth aged 10-17. We are always looking for new ways to solve big problems and we are super excited to discover your design talent and creativity. We will bring you a design competition that will help you discover the fun part of working in Science, Technology and Engineering.
